| JKAP 9th battalion celebrates 28th raising day | | Dil Bag Singh asks force to remain impartial | | SHAFIQ MIR Rajouri, February 25 Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police 9th battalion presently stationed at Draba in border district Poonch celebrated its 28th raising day with full enthusiasm and ferver with large number of local people and officers of civil administration on Thursday . The colourful function was presided over by Inspector General JKAP , Dil Bag Singh . While the stage proceedings were beautifully conducted by Dy. SP Farooq Ahmed Khan and Commandant 9th Battalion Pankaj Maggu delivered the well come address . Detailing the achievements and contribution of the said battalion , Dy. CO 9th battalion , Mohammad Farid said that this Battalion came in to being in the year 1983 and its first headquarter was established at Channi Himmat Jammu with A R Mir as first commandant of the battalion . He said , this battalion has credit of sacrificing its 16 Jawans while fighting with the militants in the past 20 years of trouble in the state of Jammu and Kashmir . Apart from this, he said , JKAP 9th battalion was presented “Trophy Of Excellence” by the government of Punjab for performing excellent duties in the state during the year 1985. He said this battalion has also credit of maintaining Law and Order in the state of Jammu and Kashmir when needed . While addressing the collective gathering of Battalion Jawans and prominent citizens , Inspector General of JKAP , Dil Bag Singh (IPS) , expressed his proud of being head of the force which is known for its bravery and discipline in the country . Dil Bag Singh stressed upon the officers and Jawans to remain always impartial while performing duties. He told the Jawans to use the “force” against those who pose threat to the peace of the society . “But keep in mind that while using any force no innocent is harmed. You whole of the action must appear in the interest of general public of the state”. However, Dil Bag Singh delivered his most of the lecture comprising social values and asked the Jawans to follow the path of brotherhood shown in the Sufi Kalams of the Suffi poets of the country . In fact, Dil. Bag Singh was deeply taken by Suffi Kalam sung by a local artist Master Kartaar Chand and party . Earlier, before, initiating the proceedings of the colourful function, IG , Dil Bag Singh paid respect to all those Jawans of the Battalion who have laid down their lives while fighting the militants in the state during the past twenty years of the militancy .
