| Cyclist killed, another hurt in road mishap | | |

JAMMU, Feb 25:
A labourer was killed and another wounded critically when their bicycle was hit by a speeding Tata Sumo at Shakti Nagar here late Wednesday night.
Police said Ram Niwas (30) was cycling, while his friend Sunil Kumar (28) was sitting on the carrier when a speeding Tata Sumo hit them near Shakti Nagar cremation ground at about
10.30 pm.
Soon after the incident, the sumo driver sped away. Ram and Sunil were evacuated to the GMC Hospital by some locals. While Ram succumbed to his injuries at about 11.50 pm, Sunil was responding to treatment. Both were labourers by profession and originally hailed from Uttar Pradesh. At present, they
were putting up at Rajpura, Shakti Nagar. Police have registered a case against the escaped Sumo driver
under sections 279 and 304-A of RPC. A hunt was on to nab him. |
