| Solution of Kashmir problem lies with New Delhi: Gadkari | | ‘BJP will not allow Pakistani people into J&K’ | |

EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Feb 25: In what could be described as “embarrassing” for political and separatists’ outfits favouring tripartite talks over Kashmir imbroglio, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today said that solution of the problem lies with Centre and not in Kashmir.
The Party also opposed the Foreign Secretary-level talks between India and Pakistan in New Delhi, describing it as “meaningless and a futile exercise.”
“The solution of Kashmir problem lies with New Delhi and not in Kashmir. The resolution to Kashmir problem will remain elusive till the Congress holds the forte in New Delhi,” said Nitin Gadkari, BJP national president while addressing a mammoth rally at Parade this afternoon.
Gadkari, who is on his maiden visit to Jammu, also described the resumption of Indo-Pak talks as “UPA Government’s agenda of pursuing its appeasement to terrorism policy.”
The BJP chief said, “Today is a black day of Indian history. Pakistan is supporting terrorists. It does not stop cross-border terrorism. It does not have control over terrorists moving freely in that country. Pakistan government is allowing terrorists to use their soil for anti-India activities. With such a country, Government of India is holding talks where people do not recognize the government there.”
He regretted that the BJP failed to understand why New Delhi should hold dialogue with a country supporting terrorism. “Unless and until the neighbouring country does not take stern action against the militants, besides initiating concrete measures to eradicate terrorism from its soil, the process of holding talks with it would remain meaningless and irrelevant,” he maintained.
In the context of Congress pursuing “anti-national” agenda in the country, Gadkari said, “The dreaded militants are enjoying UPA Government’s patronage and it has spent Rs 20 crore on providing luxuries to Ajmal Kasab so far. Afzal Guru, who has convicted by the Supreme Court, has not been punished till date which amounts to Contempt of Court.”
The BJP chief warned the Central government against implementing the proposed surrender policy, saying the party would launch a nation-wide agitation if the UPA decides to bring back “those who have killed hundreds of people.”
“I promise to the people of the country in general and Jammu in particular that the BJP would support and back you. No one would dare to bring back Pakistani people to Jammu and Kashmir. We would not allow this to happen,” he said.
He assured that his party would fight it in Parliament. “The BJP would launch an agitation from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and fight them everywhere. We would not allow Sonia Gandhi and Manmohan Singh to run the government if they go ahead with the policy of bringing back terrorists from Pakistan,” he further warned.
He also took a dig at the Chief Minister for proposing amnesty for Kashmiri militants and said, “The Chief Minister has mooted the proposal of surrender policy for giving a boost to separatists and militants.”
He also rubbished the autonomy demand and said the party is fighting for total integration of the state with the country. “Why doesn’t the State Government demand economic autonomy for Jammu and Kashmir?” he questioned.
“If Mumbai is open for entire country, closing Jammu and Kashmir for Indians needs urgent contemplation,” he said.
Accusing Congress of being pro-minorities and militant forces in the country in “the grab of secularism,” Gadkari said, “By all this Congress has created a new country within the country. They have committed this sin for which they will have to pay.”
He also ridiculed the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh’s unconcern over the recent killing of Sikhs in Peshawar and held Sonia Gandhi as well as Prime Minister both accountable for maintaining silence over the issue.
Earlier, BJP national vice president and in charge J&K Affairs, Shanta Kumar, state BJP president, Shamsher Singh, Leader of BJP Legislature Party, Chaman Lal Gupta and former State presidents, Ashok Khajuria and Nirmal Singh addressed the gathering.
Besides all eleven state BJP MLAs and Balbir Punj, national secretary and MP Rajya Sabha were also present on the occasion.
Later, he strongly condemned the cane charge on its activists during a rally in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.
“We strongly condemn the vindictive attitude of the Mayawati Government who ordered brutal cane charge on peaceful BJP workers in Lucknow,” Gadkari told reporters in a hurriedly called press conference here this evening.
“Our leaders including Rajnath Singh, Murli Manohar Joshi, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, Members of Parliament and other legislators, who participated in the rally, were deliberately targeted. We will fight against the price hike and start a nation-wide vigorous agitation against the Centre as well as UP Government,” he said. |
