| Opoosition tactics won't deter me to deliver : Omar | | HR abuses more during Mufti era | | Early Times Report Jammu Feb 25: In a clarion call to the Opposition, the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today asserted that his government would deliver and continue its full term even if they resort to ‘tactics’ to fail him. Equipped with facts and figures on various fronts, Omar also asked PDP to compare the statistics of HR abuse and incidents of violence and judge the allegations rationally. The CM dared Opposition to prove their ‘worth’ in forthcoming Panchayat and Civic bodies polls rather than indulging in mud slinging on stone pelting incidents.
“My success is their failure which is why they are bent to prove me wrong and the policies of this coalition as anti –people……..they have nothing to do other than counting how many died and how many arrested during this tenure …..this is just a political game but I wish they were here to listen what I have to say”, Omar said adding that except only few, there were no takers for their stories and strategy. Citing incidents and quoting figures, he said it is PDP to decide who is real “Adamkhor (the killer, slogan which PDP used against NC in the House).
The Chief Minister who was replying to the motion of thanks on the discussion on Governor’s Address in the Assembly said instead of cornering the government on relevant questions concerning common masses, the PDP has chosen to stay away from the proceedings, a strategy which is neither approved by the people of Kashmir valley nor even by many of their party colleagues.
The Chief Minister said his government would have been harsh with the stone pelters but he wanted to have some kind of assurance first from the mohalla committiees who in consultation with concerned SHO need to guarantee that the young boys would not indulge in such acts again. “The problem is confined to certain areas …..the stones do not hit me or my government it pains me to see that it hits a poor Kashmiri in terms of affecting his livelihood…….tourists cancel their bookings on seeing what is happening in the state……it hurt me to see the pain of a mother who lost her child in brazen act of stone pelting”, Omar said, while downplaying the justifications of opposition on such acts of angry youth on the roads.
In a brazen attack on BJP, the Chief Minister asked them to distinguish between Surrender Policy and the Rehabilitation policy which envisaged two separate concepts.”The surrender policy for a long time time in the state for the youth with guns who desired to shun it whereas the Rehabilitaion policy envisages settlement of yoyth who want to retun from POK unarmed along with their families. “ We have accommodated many youth and even made few of them MLCs to facilitae their enrty into maintstream politics…..there should be no objection to return of youth from across the border when they are coming unarmed “, Omar said adding that it was wrong on part of BJP to trumpet against this policy in Jammu without giving a serious thought. Had it been replete with some dangerous connotations, the Punjab government of which BJP is an any would not have asked for similar policy in Punjab, Omar said.
Giving details on militancy and situation in the state , he said even as the figures indicated rise in incidents and infiltration, situation was well under control. However, the government needed to focus on the areas with increased vigil and activity which are prone. “My government will not allow reversal of situation and let it deteriorate by those who have crossed to this side”, Omar said exhorting that the Foreign Secretary level talks between India nad Pakistan which began today should address the concerns of people of the state We have faced much in 21 years…we want to get rid of the gun now…..the government as an institution has offered to work as a facilitator for talks between the two nations and also play a role for dialogue between J&K and New Delhi………the earnest appeal for peace should go to the right quarters, Omar asserted. |
