Early Times Report JAMMU, FEB 26: Chief Minister, Mr. Omar Abdullah today constituted a Committee comprising of Minister for Medical Education, Mr. R. S. Chib, Minister for Higher Education, Mr. Abdul Gani Malik and Minister for Social Welfare, Ms. Sakina Itoo to look into the issues of management quota and fee structure for private professional colleges. The Committee to be assisted by the Administrative Secretaries from the concerned departments will also examine other relevant issues relating to the subject. The Chief Minister announced this decision while chairing a joint meeting participated by the Ministers and Administrative Secretaries of the government and the Private Professional Institutions, represented by the Principals and the Management Heads. Mr. Omar fixed six weeks time for the Committee to finalise the recommendations for the consideration and implementation by the government. Besides the Ministers, the meeting was attended by the Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, Mr. Khursheed Ahmed Ganai, Principal Secretary, Medical Education, Mr. R. K. Jeerath, Commissioner/Secretary, GAD, Mr. Basharat Ahmed, Commissioner/Secretary, Higher Education, Mr. N. K. Verma, Secretary ARI, Mr. R. K. Thusoo, Secretary Law Department, Mr. G. H. Tantray, Chairman, Board of Professional Entrance Examinations, Prof. Mushtaq Ahmed, Secretary, Technical Education and other senior officers. On behalf of the Private Professional Institutions, Mr. Rathore gave brief about various issues that require to be addressed for working out a uniform policy regarding management quota, fee structure and other issues.
