Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 26: The Final phase of the "Display Your Talent" 2009-10, being conducted by Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu concluded with the Creative Dance (Solo) event. Poonam Kumari from Govt. College for Women, Parade, bagged the First Prize for her excellent presentation entitled "Global Warming" whereas Neha Jamwal from The Business School, University of Jammu and Shifali Goswami from Govt. College for Women, Gandhi Nagar were adjudged as Second and Third for their performances "Save Jungles" and "Let me Dance" respectively. The Certificates of Merit were awarded to Vandana Sharma from Govt. College for Women, Gandhi Nagar for her Creative Dance "Bhasmasur Vadh" and Kanwar Iqbal from Medical College, Jammu for his presentation "Dilemma of an Artist". The other themes of dances were "Global Warming", "Says No to Drugs ", "Nari Shakti", "Women Empowerment", " Love" and "Suicide" etc. Anuradha Seth Kohli, Mitali Gupta and Lovely Sabarwal, were amongst the adjudicators for the said competition. Prof. Versha Mehta, Co-Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee, was the Chief Guest on this occasion while Prof. Inderjeet Kour was the Guest of Honour. Among others, Prof. J.S .Tara, Dean Students Welfare, Rameshwari Slathia, Secretary, Students Cultural Council, Ankita Gupta, Meenakshi Anand, Indu Bagal, Gagandeep Sharma, Syed Azhar Javad Hashmi, Sarang Vaid, Arjun Sharma, Vikas and Poonam Honda were also present. Presenting the Vote of Thanks Vijay Atri, Assistant Dean (Cultural Affairs) said that the endeavor of the Department is to provide a suitable platform to the students to exhibit their talent. On the basis of their performances the talented students shall be deputed further for participation in various Zonal and National Inter-University Competitions. The Programme was managed by the S. Gurpal Singh, Kulbushan Thakur, Balwant Singh Slathia, S.S. Bhalla, Joginder Singh, Madan Lal, Yash pal, Ram pal, Darshan Lal and Satish Kumar. It may be mentioned here that the Prize Distribution Function of the Display Your Talent 2009-10 shall be held on March 11 at 3.00 p.m at Brig. Rajinder Singh Auditorium.
