| "Punjabi Bhangra Party" mustard oil banned | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 26: Taking cognizance of the complaint of a Gangyal-based oil mill owner, police today raided some wholesale shops at Nehru Market here and seized several cans of the unregistered "Punjabi Bhangra Party" brand, pronouncing its sale and purchase as "illegal". The banned brand owner Satish Aggarwal had gone underground to avoid arrest. He was booked under section 420 of RPC, 63/65 of Copyright Act and 77/78 of Trade and Merchandise Act. The complaint against him was lodged with Gangyal police station by the owner of Gangyal-based Jammu Oil Mills which had the registered brand name of "Bhangra". In the complaint, he also alleged that one S K Enterprises, owned by Satish Aggarwal, was misusing their trademark "Bhangra" in the form of "Punjabi Bhangra Party", misleading traders and consumers. A day or two ago, police had raided the premises of S K Enterprises and seized the material used for printing the trademark. Satish Aggarwal had, however, managed to give cops a slip. Police sources said in today's raids on wholesale shops at Nehru Market, over 150 cans of the banned Punjabi Bhangra Party brand were seized. Police also had a meeting with the office bearers of Nehru Market Traders Association and asked them not to sell this product. Police said its sale and purchase was illegal.
