| 'Centre, state has no concrete policy to rehabilitate Pandits' | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Feb 27: Alleging discrimination and callous attitude of both State and Centre Government towards displaced Kashmiri Pandits, United Kashmiri Pandit Council President Vir Saraf today said that Centre and state has no concrete policy to rehabilitate them ''Both State and the Central Governments have failed to meet the aspirations of the displaced Kashmiri Pandits (KPs). It is unfortunate that the Centre has not yet framed any policy on rehabilitating the community,'' Saraf, told reporters. He said that Pandits are not demanding anything in charity but their right. ''Our rights are being violated. There are various factions within the government, who are divided KPs to return and don’t want them (migrants) to go back to Kashmir,'' he added. He said it is not only a matter of settling of 5,000 KPs but a question of 75,000 displaced families. ''The government should think of all displaced Kashmiri Hindus and not only one section of the community,'' Pandits demanded dissolution of Apex Committee alleging that it has failed to address community’s grievances. ''Apex Committee, a component of six members each from PDP and National Conference, has failed to talk about the welfare of the community and it should either be dissolved or resign,'' he said. Apex Committee members are acting as a tool in the hands of political parties, who are only misleading the Pandit community in the name of rehabilitation.
