| Campaign against consumption of tobacco, allied products | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Kathua, Feb 27: In order to discussed utilization of funds for undertaking activities under cigarette and other Tobacco products Act 2003, a meeting was convened under the chairmanship of ADC M. Raju.
Principal Degree College, Chief Planning Officer, Chief Education Officer, Dy. CMO, District Health Officer, District Information Officer, Assistant Controller Drugs and HQ Assistant attended the meeting.
In the meeting it was decided that the food inspectors and drug inspector shall carry out regular inspection of all the public places in their respective jurisdictions and shall submit weekly report.
Chief Education Officer will issue directions to the principals/head masters of government institutions to ensure that no tobacco products are being sold in the educational institutions. Principal of Degree College will also follow the same instructions. SSP was requested to direct the SHO’s to ensure that no cigarettes smoking or consumption of tobacco products is carried out in public places. CMO was asked to prepare flex hoardings, banners, posters and was advised to launch a campaign through electronic media highlighting the hazards associated with tobacco. Government Degree College Kathua, Billawar, Basholi, GHSS Nagri Parole and GHSS Lakhanpur were chosen for conducting symposium, seminars on the “Hazards of smoking and drugs Abuse” and DDC was requested to release the funds for organizations of debates and preparation of posters and banners.
