| Chib reviews functioning of GMCH Hostel | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Feb 28: Minister for Medical Education RS Chib has taken a strong exception of a news item concerning Boys Hostel of Government Medical College Hospital appearing in a section of the press. This was stated by RS Chib in a high level officers' meeting held here today under his chairmanship to review the functioning of the different hostels of Government Medical College Hospital (GMCH), Jammu and its associated hospitals. Minister said that the press reporting regarding "desecration of Mosque" in the Medical College Hostel, Jammu is totally baseless, concocted and politically motivated story. There is no such Mosque in existence in the Govt Medical College Hostel, Jammu and the story has been planted by some miscreants with vested interests, he added. Chib further said that it is a fact that a Committee was constituted by to enquire into the brawl between the Undergraduate and Post-Graduate students which took place few days back, among hostel inmates. The Committee has already submitted a report and all those found in the brawl have been pin pointed and Dr Mohsin Khan, a house physician, who has given the story to the newspaper, is one of them. In the meeting, a strong note has been taken of all those who have been found guilty and who are responsible to vitiate the atmosphere of the Govt Medical College Hostel, Jammu. It has already been decided to initiate a suitable disciplinary action against all those who were involved and found guilty by the Enquiry Committee, in the brawl. The Minister said that nobody will be allowed to spoil the peaceful and secular fabric of the Hostel and the interest of the peace loving students will be fully safeguarded by the College authorities. Among others who attended the meeting included Principal GMCH, Dr Rajinder Singh, Special Secretary, Health & Medical Education Depar-tment, Parshotam Sharma, HoD ENT Dr Anice Chowdhary, Chief Provost Dr Yudhvir Gupta and HoD Pathology Dr TR Raina.
