Rs 14 cr power tariff realized in Rajouri

RAJOURI, Feb 28: The 2nd unit of 250 KVA micro hydel power project Kheora, Rajouri would be made operational soon, by incurring Rs 20 lakh, said the Minister of State for Power Shabir Ahmad Khan during his inspection of the project today. Minister took stock of the functioning of the project and said that Chief Minister has shown his keen interest to make this project functional and announced Rs 20 lakhs for the purpose. He directed the concerned authorities to complete all formalities for making the 2nd unit of the project functional before March end. He said by making this unit operational better power supply could be ensured to various essential services in the area. Shabir said that an amount of Rs 30 crore would be incurred on the up-gradation of power scenario under RGGVY in the border district Rajouri. He said under this programme various un-electrified villages and hamlets would be electrified. Minister inspected Receiving Station Rajouri and said that necessary repairs would be taken up so that the consumers would not feel any inconvenience.
Shabir Khan sought the appraisal about the revenue realization of power tariff in the district from the concerned authorities. He was apprised that Rs14 crore have been collected from the consumers of the district till date as power tariff. Minister stressed the need for checking of power pilferage of all areas of the district by intensifying checking squads and asked the concerned authorities to ensure the punctuality of field staff in their respective areas so that the consumers would not face any inconvenience in scheduled power supply. He also issued instructions for replacement of worn out poles and old wires wherever necessary in the area. Shabir called upon the people to cooperate with the department and pay their power tariff regularly so that government would not face any problem for providing scheduled power supply.
Shabir also inspected ongoing water supply schemes including Kheora, Thudi, ITI and PHE Rajouri and took stock of the pace of progress of these schemes. He said Rs 60 lakh have been released as additionality by Chief Minister under district sector for completion of these schemes. He directed concerned engineers to redouble their efforts and accelerate the pace of works on these schemes so that these may be completed within stipulated time.
