33 vehicles challaned in Udhampur

JAMMU, Feb 28: Three vehicles, including taxis, were challaned by the staff of assistant regional transport office, Udhampur, under different sections of Motor Vehicles Act.
Official sources said the staff of assistant regional transport office conducted surprise checking of vehicles and realised an amount of Rs 57,000 from the violators of the Motor Vehicles Act.
The vehicles were challaned for overloading and other offences, the sources added.Sources said apart from challaning five taxis for overcharging from passengers, a truck and a bus were seized by the officials for driving on the routes in violation of rules.The officials were assisted by a police party led by Inspector Ajay Bhat, SHO of Jhajjar Kotli police station.
Sources said transport commissioner Moha-mmad Fazalullah had also issued directions to the Jammu transport office for starting a campaign against the violators of the Motor Vehicles Act.
