| CITU holds session, discusses public problems | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Feb 28: J& K State Committee of Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) held a one- day session today at Jammu under the chairmanship of Javed Ahmad Zarger, working president. The meeting deliberated upon various issues and problems confronting working people of the State. Addressing the meeting, Shri M.Y.Tarigami, State President J&K CITU said that experience reveals that neo-liberal economic policies implemented by the government since 90's have proved disastrous and played havoc with the interests of common people and benefited only microscopic section of corporate houses and big boniness classes. He re-iterated that different trade unions must build a united platform to resist the anti-working class policies of the government. Meanwhile, the committee adopted various resolutions during the session. The resolutions adopted included price rise, labour laws and improvement in working condition in the state. The resolution also stressed that National Social Security Fund be created to provide National Floor Level Social Security to all unorganised workers, including the contractual/casual workers in line with the recommendations of Parliamentary Standing Committee of Labour. The committee reiterated that ASHAs and mid-day meal workers be provided monthly honorarium on the analogy of Anganwadi workers and helpers and further said that after prolonged struggle of Anganwadi workers and helpers, the state government has agreed to release state share in their favour. Meanwhile, those delegates/observers who are going to participate in the 13th CITU Conference to be held at Chandigarh from March 17-21, were also elected. Besides others, Om Prakash, general Sec., Sham Prasad Kesar , Nirdous Upal and Abdul Rashid Najar addressed the meeting.
