However, when the troops asked them to surrender, the infiltrators opened fire and also hurled hand grenades. Troops also retaliated and in the encounter one soldier lost his life. The entire area has been cordoned off and the operation was going on when the reports last came in. A senior army officer recently said that there are about 1300 militants waiting to sneak into this side from P O K . These militants, majority of them locals, are waiting at launching pads near the LoC to infiltrate into this side along with arms and ammunition. He said the number of infiltrations from POK has come down but it was still going on. A top commander of the Pakistan based Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) Mudasir, mastermind behind the series of grenade blasts, fidayeen attacks and IED blasts in the valley, confessed during questioning by the police that a number of training camps are still working across the LoC where militants were being given arms training. Security forces have killed more than 50 militants immediately after they entered into this side from POK since January this year. Security forces and police also foiled exfiltration attempts made by Kashmiri youths who were being taken to other side of the LOC forcibly for receiving arms training.
