JAMMU, Mar 1: Pensio-ners under the banner of Jammu and Kashmir Pensioners Association today held a protest at the respective branches of Jammu and Kashmir Bank. They were protesting against the apathetical attitude of Government towards them. Pensioners criticized the Government for not addressing their problems even after their repeated assurances.
Pensioners also demanded among other things release of the arrears and also the implementation of the 6th Pay Commission Report with effect from January 1, 2006. Demonstrations were held in front of the Jammu Kashmir Bank Branches at Chowk Chabutra, Rehari, Janipur, R.S. Pura, Talab Tillo Bohri, Bishnah, Patel Nagar, Akhnoor, Vijaypur, Samba and other parts of the Jammu province. Pensioners' leader Mukand Lal Sharma led the main demonstration. Those who addressed the protest demonstrations included: Mukand Lal, Madan Lal Abrol, Varinder Basim, Kapil Dev Sharma and others.
