| Focus on consolidation of upgraded schools: Peerzada | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Mar 1: Minister for School Education, Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed has said that the Government has decided to put on hold the upgradation process of education institutions in the State and has shifted the focus on consolidation of the infrastructure in the already upgraded schools. Replying to a question by Bashir Ahmed Magray today in Legislative Council, the Minister said that at present there are 226 High Schools and 78 Higher Secondary Schools are functioning in the State through internal arrangements. He said the creation of staff and infrastructure of these upgraded institutions involves huge financial implications, adding that upgradation by internal arrangement affects adversely the working of such schools where from the staff is withdrawn and deployed to the newly upgraded Schools. The Minister said that Girls Middle School, Nowpora Payeen, Pulwama is situated in the centre of the area having solid and sufficient infrastructural facilities, besides a considerable number of students.
