| Gujjar scholar Babu Faiz Ahmed's contributions highlighted | | | early times report
Jammu, Mar 1: A special programme of tributes highlighting the literary merits of renowned Gujjar scholar and social reformer Babu Faiz Ahmad was held at Abhinav Theatre here this afternoon .
The event was organised by Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages and was attended by prominent literary personalities, legislators from Poonch and Rajouri besides artists and organisations from diverse fields of life.
The programme was presided over by Masud Choudhary, Vice Chancellor, Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University, while MLC Mohammed Yousuf Taing was the chief guest.
Advisor to Chief Minister Mubarak Gul , Bashir Naz Vice Chairman of State Advisory Board for Development of Gujjars Bakerwals were the guests of honour.
Welcoming the guests, Dr. Javaid Rahi , Chief Editor of Gojri wing of academy stated the main objective of today's programme was to highlight literary merits of Babu Fiaz Ahmed which he had rendered for the upliftment of Gujjars and other communities residing in twin border district of Rajouri
Masud Chowdhary , who is also the eldest son of Babu Faiz Ahmed , in his presidential address said that Academy should document his works in shape of a book so that his contributions could be remembered from all times to come.
Speaking about the literay merits of Babu Faiz Ahmed , M Y Taing said that it was by virtue of efforts of people like him that the Cultural Academy could compile an extensive Gojri dictionary during his period as secretary Academy.
Speaking on the occasion, Zaffar Manhas , Secretary, JK Cultural Academy said a special number of monthly Sheeraza (Gojri) on life and work of Babu Fiaz Ahmad will be published very shortly, adding a State level seminar on his life and works will be held in April next.
Ch Bashir Naz announced sanctioning of an amount of Rs.5.00 Lakhs for publication of Gojri books in cultural Academy.?
Mubarak Gul said that there is an urgent need to propagate the message of late Faiz Ahmed and also paid a tribute to departed soul on behalf of Chieh Minister Omar Abdullah.
Prominent among those who spoke on the occasion included MLC Jahangeer Mir, MLC Javed Rana, Mirza Abdul Rashid, Choudhary Talib Hussain, Sarwar Chouhan,
Eminent Gojri Scholar Hassan Parvez , Munshi Khan Sarwar Chouhan read out papers on the life and works of late Faiz Ahmad.
Among others MLA Poonch Aijaz Jan, MLC Tralochan Wazir were also present on the occasion.
