| Sagar replies House, PDP dissatisfied | | Infant’s killing | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Mar 1: Even as the NC led coalition government today informed the Upper House that culprits involved in the killing of an infant recently in Baramulla district of Kashmir valley have been arrested, the opposition PDP expressed ‘disatisfaction’ alleging the action was not adequate and government had failed to address the root cause of the issue that caused this mishap. Soon after the question hour today, when the Law and Parliamentary Minister Ali Mohammad Sagar read out the details of arrests made in the matter, senior leader and PDP MLA Nizam-ud-din Bhat got up to express the party’s concern in the matter contending mere arrests of the culprits would not address their concern. “Some arrests have been made and challans made against the is fine but this is not sufficient……we are not satisfied as the real issue is to ascertain what was the motive of the youth in indulging is such acts………what forced them to do that….”, said Nizam-u-Din Bhat. When other members of PDP supported the viewpoint expressed by Bhat, Sagar interuuped with terse remark,” I understand your political compulsions well……I think everbody, infact the whole of Baramulla knows the political affliations of these persons who have been arrested”. This was enough for PDP members to retaliate who insisted why doesn’t the government name the and identify the party. “Why don’t you identify the party ……”, Bhat asked .However, the Speaker Mohammad Akbar Lone intervened into the matter before the situation could drag into bickerings between the two parties again, the government has now taken cognizance into the matter and started investigations. Earlier, Sagar giving details said all the four persons, Tanveer Ahmad Saleh, Bilal Ahmad Channa, Akhtar Hussain Bhat and Mohammed Ramzan Siraj, have been arrested, adding that two vehicles involved in the incident have also been seized and case registered under section 302 RPC. He said 15 witnesses identified the culprits before their arrest. He appreciated the police for timely action in the incident. The Speaker Mohammad Akbar Lone, had issued directions to the Government to come up with a statement after ascertaining the facts, on the demand of the Opposition Members in the House, a few days back.
