Leader of BJP Legislature Party and MLA Jammu West assembly segment, Chaman Lal Gupta, moved a bill in Legislative Assembly wherein he sought voting rights for PoK refugees and allotment of eight seats, out of 24 reserved seats from PoK in the State Legislative Assembly. Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affair, Ali Mohammed Sagar said that the bill could not be introduced in the House since the refugees are not residing in a specific area wherein they could be identified. He further said it would not be possible for the Government to allot eight seats to the refugees as they are living in “scattered areas” of Jammu region. Infuriated over the Government’s response, all the BJP legislators led by Chaman Lal Gupta and Ashok Khajuria walked out from the house in protest against the rejection of bill. Meanwhile, MLA Nazir Ahmed Gurezi today introduced a bill demanding inclusion of ‘Sheene’ language in sixth schedule of State Constitution. However, the bill was rejected with voice vote by majority of legislators in Legisaltive Assembly. Moving a bill number 6 of 2010 in the Lower House, Gurezi asserted that the ‘Sheene’ language should be given due importance as it is being spoken in various parts of the Jammu and Kashmir State. “The language is spoken in some parts of Ramban, Ladakh and Gurez,” he said, adding that this language should be introduced in sixth schedule of the constitution of Jammu and Kashmir. The bill was, however, opposed by Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affair Ali Mohammed Sagar. When Gurezi pressed for voting in the House, it was rejected by the members through voice vote. Angered over it, Gurezi walked out of the house in protest after the bill was turn down by the legislators.
