| Transporters hail Joint JTC for Jammu, Kashmir | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 2: The transporters have expressed their gratitude for acceding long pending demands of authorizing the Joint Transport Commissioner and the Deputy Transport Commi-ssioner to attend to the day-to-day work respectively for Kashmir and Jammu Divisions. Addressing mediapersons, Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Motor Transport Association (JKMTA), J S Wazir said that measures should be taken to stop overloading as it was not only the violation of the law/orders, but is also the main reason behind the road accidents . He demanded increase in carriage charges for some stations which include far flung areas as the current rates and are not compatible to the expenses on operation of vehicles. He also demanded increase in fare rate as the prices of petroleum products have gone up recently, withdrawal of 8.4% service tax.
