| Azad's name echoes in LA in his absence | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 2: It was the Union Minister for Health and former Chief Minister of the State, Ghulam Nabi Azad who once again stole the show during zero hour in Legislative Assembly here today. His name created ripples in the Lower House of the State Legislature when BJP leader Chaman Lal Gupta while referring to the poor state of affairs of medical health services in one of the hospitals in Kishtwar district said that even though Azad, who once represented the remote area, has risen to become union health minister but the medical health infrastructure continue to remain in bad shape in the hilly area. Raising an objection to the mention of Azad one of his loyalists, Vikar Rasool protested and urged senior BJP leader to desist from making mention of Azad as he is no longer a member of the state legislature. Vikar said, "It is wrong to relate name of Azad with every development in the state as there is no direct link now." While Vikar was contesting as a trusted lieutenant all other senior Congress ministers maintained silence and were even seen signalling Vikar not to create an issue out of non-issue. The Speaker of the House, Mohd Akbar Lone intervened and directed the junior legislator not to react in haste. Speaker said, Prof Gupta is a senior member of the house and when he is raising a public centric issue and referring to the union health minister there is no wrong in it as he is holding the office of union health ministry. Unfazed, by criticism Vikar stood his ground. At that point of time, Gupta made another statement saying the Congress is divided into two factions viz Azad and Soz groups and is one reason the junior MLA is feeling offended. This remark once again created flutter in the house and many congress men reacted to it. In the end, Vikar occupied his seat when health minister Sham Lal Sharma clarified and informed the BJP leader that issues raised by him would be looked in to great detail. At the same time he informed the house that a new hospital costing Rs 50 crore is under construction in Kishtwar. The Minister however, suggested the BJP Leader for "behaving" like a good parliamentarian, saying "The name of such a person who is not a member of this House should be avoided while raising an issue."
