DIG stresses greater awareness of CD activities

Udhampur, Mar 2 : Highlighting the role of Civil Defence in protecting the precious lives and property in the event of war, break out of fire and other exigencies, Mr. Slathia said that trained civil defence volunteers could prove instrumental in managing the situation effectively besides help in building self confidence and concern for humanity among the students.
The DIG was speaking at a well attended gathering after inaugurating a 5-day long Civil Defence basic training camp in the premises of Government Industrial Training Institute, Udhampur here on Tuesday.
Stressing the need for generating greater awareness about the Civil Defence activities among masses in general and younger generation in particular, the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Udhampur-Reasi range, Slathia called upon the functionaries of the Civil Defense Organization, Udhampur to put in their best efforts in educating the students about the various aspects of the Civil Defence for their self defense as well as civil defence in case of any disaster like situation.
Superintendent of Police, City, Mr. Rajeshwar Singh, Deputy Controller, Civil Defense, Mr. Bodh Raj, Councilors, Civil Defence Wardens and prominent citizens attended the programme.
Highlighting the role of Civil Defence in protecting the precious lives and property in the event of war, break out of fire and other exigencies, Mr. Slathia said that trained civil defence volunteers could prove instrumental in managing the situation effectively besides help in building self confidence and concern for humanity among the students.
The DIG exhorted upon the students of ITI, Udhampur to take keen interest in the training programme and derive the best out of this programme so that they could handle any disaster like situation as and when arise.
Chief and Deputy Chief Wardens of Civil Defence, Udhampur who spoke on the occasion and briefed the participants about the historical back round and objectives of the organization besides different activities to be undertaken during the training programme.
