| Rs 6.5 lakh distributed among BPL families under IAY | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 2: Bharatiya Janata Party, MLA and Kissan Morcha, President Ch. Sukhnandan today distributed Rs 6.5 lakh through 37 cheques of different amounts among the BPL families under Indira Awas Yojana (IAY) scheme. This amount includes first installment for construction of houses and upgradation of the existing ones. Ch. Sukhnandan, distributed these cheques in Phallaian Mandal village in Satwari block of Marh Assembly Constituency in presence of a large number of local inhabitants. The MLA, on this occasion said that IAY, a centrally sponsored scheme, is proving helpful to such people who cannot afford to construct even a single room on their own and are leading miserable lives due to their poverty. He said there are a number of welfare schemes launched by the Central government from time to time and the people should visit the concerned departments in order to get the detailed informations about the same and avail the same. Ch. Sukhnandan said that he himself is born in a Kissan family and is well aware of the problems and needs of farmers. He said even in the present season of top dressing, there is dire need of urea and unfortunately it is not available in the market. He, meanwhile, alleged that the concerned minister and the department was misleading the farmers by claiming that there was no shortage of urea. He said that areas like R.S. Pura, Suchetgarh, Bishnah, Vijaypur extending up to borders of Kathua have adequate irrigation water and there was no need of rainfall in these areas. Ch. Sukhnandan urged the Agriculture Minister and the Department to involve the members of farming community and frame a clear cut Kissan Policy so that the farmers are not made to suffer. Nihal Singh and Swarn Singh, both Ex-Sarpanch, Kuldeep Singh, Tawi islad Unit President, Subash Chander, Bansi Lal, Deepu Sharma, Bishan Dass Sharma, Sardar Bablu and BDO Satwari were also present .
