| Speaker directs for uniform application of rules in Kashmir, Jammu Universities Zero Hour in LA | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 2: Speaker J&K Legislative Assembly, Mohammad Akbar Lone today directed the Minister for Higher Education to adopt uniform guidelines for admission to various courses in universities of Kashmir and Jammu and its affiliated institutions, in order to avoid any disparity with the students. The Speaker was intervening on an issue raised by Basharat Bukhari during the Zero Hour. In response to an issue raised by M.Y. Tarigami, the Minister for Higher Education, Abdul Gani Malik apprised the House that the Government was making all out efforts to ensure all important streams in newly established colleges in the State, including that of Kulgam. In reply to a point raised by Vikar Rasool, Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution, Qamar Ali Akhoon informed the House that list of eligible drought hit families for free ration is being framed by the concerned Deputy Commissioners after conducting necessary survey. The Minister for Roads and Buildings, G M Saroori assured the House that the Government will consider road connectivity in all uncovered areas of Tral Constituency under PMGSY, as per norms. The Minister was replying to an issue raised by Mushtaq Ahmed Shah. Abdul Haq demanded compensation for snow affected families of Kupwara district. Balwant Singh Mankotia drew the attention of the House towards the plight of striking college students who are demanding open choice in examinations and urged for initiating talks with them. Ashok Kumar demanded regularization of Chowkidars engaged under ICDS programme. Sardar Rafiq Hussain Khan demanded ambulance for Balakote and urged for provision of bus service in the area. Mehbooba Mufti demanded re-scheduling of dates for physical tests for the posts of Sub-Inspectors in Police Department. Harshdev Singh demanded timely utilization of central funds and a Degree College for Majhalta while Abdul Majid Wani demanded establishment of Degree Colleges in the rural and backward areas of Doda district. Mohammad Shar-ief Niaz demanded release of select list of Physical Education Teachers by SSRB, while R .S. Sharma demanded filling up of all vacant posts in Rajouri district, with priority to those who are at the verge of age bar. Syed Bashir Ahmed demanded improvement in the power scenario in his Constituency by setting up a new receiving station. A.R. Veeri expressed concern over the shortage of rations and revising the criteria for rations per family. Ashok Kumar Khajuria demanded timely steps to ensure adequate water supply in the summer months in Jammu city, while Yashpal Kundal demanded improvement in water supply in Kandi areas of Samba district. Nizam-ud-Din Bhat sought intervention of the Government to ensure return of an elderly person of Bandipora from Pakistan, who was on visit to Pakistan and is ailing there. Besides, Nazir Ahmed Gurezi, Bimla Luthra, Zulfikar Ali, Dr. Mohammad Shafi, Krishen Chander, Mir Saifullah, Indu Pawar, Gharu Ram, Mohammad Rafi, Abdul Gafar Sofi, Javed Mustafa Mir, Peerzada Mansoor Hussain, Durga Dass, Peer Afaq and Baldev Raj Sharma also raised the issues of public importance pertaining to their constituencies.
