| Snow cleared from Kupwara roads in minimum possible time: Saroori | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 2: Adequate men and machinery was pressed into service to clear snow from various roads in Kupwara district during February and all the roads were made traffic worthy in shortest possible time. This was stated by the Minister for R&B, G M Saroori in reply to a Calling Attention Motion of. Mir Saifullah regarding snow clearance from roads in Kupwara Constituency especially Kachama road, Dardpora Satbani road, Zanrishi road and Rash-anpora road and Kralpora market. The Minister said that in Kupwara district, snowfall started in the intervening night of 5th and 6th of February 2010 and intermittently continued till 9th of February 2010. The depth of snow accumulated was 2 ft in the plain areas and 2.6" (2 ft 6 in) to 3'6" (3 ft 6in) in the upper reaches. He said Mechanical Engineering Department deployed 11 number snow clearance machines for clearing main roads, comprising an aggregate linear length of 199 kms. The main arterial roads were made trafficable by February 12, 2010. Since the roads assigned to R&B department are link roads taking off from the main roads, clearance of village link roads were started immediately after main roads were cleared by Border Roads Organization and Mechanical Engine-ering Department and become approachable. |
