| DFA Udhampur beats Doda 6-1; Young Star wins 5-3 in tie-breaker | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 2: District Football Association (DFA) Udhampur blanked DFA Doda 6-0 while Young Star registered 5-3 win over DFA Bandipura beating latter in tie breaker to advance in the ongoing 21st State Football Championships under the banner of Jammu and Kashmir Football Association (JKFA) at twin venues of GGM Science College and Mini Stadium, Parade, here today. In the first match, played at GGM Science College, DFA Doda took first lead scoring in the very fourth minute through Majid but made a meek surrender in rest of the game conceding as many as six goals. From Udhampur, Chettri (11th, 67th) and Vikas (45th, 55th) struck twice while Vikram and Amarjeet contributed a goal each netting the ball in the 13th and 30th minute of the match respectively. In the second match played at the same venue, Young Star trounced DFA Bandipura 5-3 in tie-breaker. Earlier, in the stipulated time the match ended in a 1-1 draw. Bhanu took the first lead for Young Star but only to find Bandipura equalizing in the very next minute through Jamshed. Later, in tie breaker, Bilal and Tariq were successful penalty shooters from Bandipura while Sanjay, Vikas, Rakesh and Mohinder netted the ball from Young Star. Engineers XI beat DFA Kulgam XI 1-0: Engineers XI trounced DFA Kulgam by a solitary goal in first round match played at Mini Stadium, Parade. Tushar scored the only goal for Engineers in the 40th minute. DFA Ganderbal XI trounces Young rovers 3-1: The DFA Ganderbal overpowered Young Rovers beating latter 3-1. Javed (4th), Ashraf (8th), Javed (17th) were scorers from Ganderbal while Abhinash (39th) reduced the margin from Young Rovers. Musa Club beat DFA Kathua 4-2: Musa Club outplayed DFA Kathua four goals to two in tie-breaker to qualify for the second round of the tournament. Rakesh took first lead for Kathua in the 20th minute but the score was leveled by Musa in the 37th minute through Naresh. Later, in tie-breaker, Sunil, Ajay and Vijaypal were successful in tie-breaker from Musa Club whereas from Kathua, only Varinder could convert his penalty shoot into the goal. DFA Pulwama downs DFA Kishtwar 3-0: DFA Pulwama trounced DFA Kishtwar by three goals to nil to make it into the next round of the competition. Umar (22nd ), Zahoor (29th and 45th) were scorers from winners Pulwama.
