| Sex racket case: 9 accused to go to Srinagar jail for Ramadan | | | Chandigarh, Oct 12: A court here on Wednesay granted permission to nine accused in the J-K sex racket case to be shifted to Srinagar central jail from October 14 to November two in view of the holy month of Ramadan, and adjourned the hearing to November three.
On a plea by the nine accused, district and sessions judge B S Mehndiratta allowed them to be taken by police from Burail jail here to Srinagar central jail so that there relatives could meet them during the auspicious days of Shar-e-Kadar and Eid.
However, four of the 13 accused - BSF DIG K C Padhi, sitting MLAs Raman Mattoo and Ghulam Ahmed Mir and former Supreme Court`s judge R P Sethi`s son Anil Sethi preferred to stay back in Burail jail here.
During the hearing, Mattoo told the judge that Srinagar jail authorities allowed the relatives of inmates to meet them and serve food during the auspicious month of Ramadan.
The judge posted the case for next hearing on November three while directing that all the accused be brought back to jail here on November two.
Earlier, the defence sought adjournment of the case for arguments on decoded challan. The CBI challan presented before the court in this case was in a coded form where the names of accused and witnesses had been kept secret. The defence had sought the decoded copy of the challan.
