| 2 walk outs in LA over 'unsatisfactory' reply Calling Attention Notice | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 2: For the first time in the ongoing budget session, the Lower House of State Legislature today witnessed two walk outs during the 'Calling Attention Notices.' Angered over "unsatisfactory" replies by the Ministers, two legislators namely Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami and Choudhary Zulfkar Ali walked out of the House, though separately, to express their resentment. Tarigami, who brought the attention of Minister for Power (In charge) the situation that arisen due to inadequate availability of electricity in Kulgam district, alleged that the Power Development Department (PDD) has failed to provide electricity even for two hours. "Even the Kerosene oil is not being provided to the people of Kulgam. Despite the people are facing several problems in day to day life, no measure has been taken to redress their plights," he alleged. Minister for Tourism, Nawang Rigzin Jora, on behalf of Power Minister, said the power supply to the consumers of district Kulgam is being provided as per the scheduled curtailment programme framed on the basis of the total availability of power from the various sources and the load demand of the consumers. "There is no disparity in providing power supply to district Kulgam," he said adding that comparison of the energy consumption in district Kulgam for the period April to January during the current financial year and previous financial year gives a vivid picture of energy supplied. He said during April 2009- January 2010, 1188.92 LUs of energy were supplied to district Kulgam, as against energy supply of 1083.58 LUs during April 2008-January 2009, thus registering an increase of 105.34 LUs (9.72%) over the same period during the previous fiscal year. Contesting the claims of the Minister, Tarigami tore the reply and staged walk out from the House amid the slogans "Main Andhere Ke Khilaf House Se Walk out Kar Raha Ho." Similarly, PDP MLA, Choudhary Zulfkar Ali accused the Minister for CAPD department, Qamar Ali Akhoon of misleading the House. He had raised the issue of inadequate foodgrains including sugar in tehsil Budhal of Rajour district. In his reply, Akhoon said that 6,747 quintals of ration (Rice and Wheat) were distributed to rationees as per approved Central scale in Budhal Tehsil of Rajouri district, besides additional foodgrains at the rate of 15 Kg per RT so far during 2010. He further said that during February, 2010, free relief of rations at the rate of 35 kg per RT are being provided to draught hit families strictly as per the Government order No. Rev/ER/168 of 2009 dated December 8, 2009 issued by Revenue Department. He said supplies of sugar, which had slowed down on account of poor procurement of levy sugar by the Central Government, have now been restored by FCI to the State and sugar is being provided now as per approved scale of 700 gms per soul per month to the rationees. The PDP MLA said, "On one side the Government claims that there is no shortage of ration and on the other, people are facing acute shortage in Budhal area. The Minister seems to be defending the department." He also tore the reply and walked out from the House.
