| PNB launches differential rate of interest camp in Kathua | | | Early Times Report KATHUA, Mar 3: With its commitment to reach out to the unbanked areas of the state, leading public sector bank Punjab National Bank organized a Differential Rate of Interest lending camp at district Kathua. The Lending camp was inaugurated by RC Kaul, Deputy General Manager, PNB J&K Circle in which 70 beneficiaries were distributed loans for various schemes at branch office Kathua. Speaking at the occasion, RC Kaul said that the Differential Rate of Interest scheme is a part of the social banking programmes, designed particularly to ameliorate the economic conditions of those living below the poverty line. The scheme offers need based financial assistance to those who intend taking up any productive activity and has been suitably tailored for persons whose income is very low, he added. Kaul further informed that under DRI scheme, borrowers with annual family income of Rs. 18000/- in rural areas & Rs. 24000/- in urban areas will be given loan facility at 4% rate of interest & for this the target of 1% of the previous years Total Advances is fixed Kaul further informed that efforts are made to lend eligible NGOs, Self Help Groups & such like organizations operating in remote areas to improve the performance under this scheme & other similar organizations. Nirmal Dass, Chief Manager BO Kathua also explained salient features of the scheme to large number of borrowers present at the function. He also presented vote of thanks. |
