| Shah’s health worries rights activists | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 3: Renowned Delhi based human rights activist, Gautam Navlakha and Advocate Parvez Imroz expressed serious concern over ‘deteriorating health of Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) chairman, Shabir Ahmad Shah. In a joint statement issued today, the duo said Shabir was suffering from a number of ailments and needed immediate hospitalization. “Excessive enlargement of his prostate has been obstructing his urine flow which may prove fatal”, they said. Urging the authorities to implement the jail manual in letter and spirit, the duo demanded immediate hospitalization of the ailing detainee. “Obstruction of urine is treated as a medical emergency everywhere in the world. But no treatment was given to Shah. The urine in his bladder not only causes inconvenience to him but is likely to cause serious infection which may prove fatal”, they said. Terming Shah’s detention as uncalled for and unjustified, the statement said: “Shabir has been accused of encouraging stone pelters and instigating stone pelting. But the statements of the Chief Minister in the legislative assembly exonerate Shah of the charges.” Pertinent to mention the Chief Minister while addressing the legislative assembly said the persons behind the stone pelters had been identified and shall be exposed soon. But a few days later, Shah was taken into custody for patronizing stone pelting.
