| PHE employees threatens to go on 48-hrs stir from Mar 8 | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Mar 3: In order to press their genuine demands, the PHE Employees United Front have threatened to go on pen-down/ tool down strike for 48 hours from March 8 if their demands are not agreed till March 7. Addressing a press conference here today, the senior leaders of the front said that PHE employees have been struggling for their long pending demands for the last so many years but, nothing has been done by the Government to redress their issues. Their demands included daily wage to PHE workers at the rate of Rs 110/- per day and those who have completed 7 years tenure be regularized, release of one and half day ex-gratia pay from April 2007, technical grade given to the permanent employees as per SRO-149 of 1973 be confirmed, unsanctioned existing posts as clubbed and upgraded in SRO-59 be given sanction, new vehicle like Jeeps, Water Tankers, Load Carrier, Deep Digging Rigs be purchased against the old condemn vehicles, transfer of Class IV Employees to made at sanction level instead of Sub-Division Level and in case of death of any CP etc. The PHE leaders stated that "keeping in view the anti-employees attitude of the State government and the autocratic thinking of the Minister concerned and the sentiments of the PHE Employees that a notice for work down/ tool down strike has been served to the authority concerned that if the already all agreed demands of the employees are not implemented by March 7.'' Among the senior PHE leaders were Bakshi Singh, Shiv Kumar Sharma, Swarn Singh, Vinod Kumar, Subash Chander Verma and others.
