| Army rescues snow leopard in Ladakh | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Ladakh, Mar 3: A wounded snow leopard was rescued by army troops in the snow-bound Laga village near Tangtse in Ladakh last month.Army sources said an injured snow leopard, which is an endangered species, was trapped by villagers at Laga on February 21 last.After the matter came to their notice, troops from a nearby army location rushed to the spot. Sources said the snow leopard was hiding behind a big boulder when the jawans reached there.The jawans rescued the injured wild cat and shifted it for its treatment to a local animal rescue centre with the help of officials of wildlife department. As it showed signs of great improvement, it was shifted to Leh the next day for its advanced treatment and rehabilitation, the sources added.
