| Kashmiri to be introduced in 9th, 10th from this session in Kashmir | | Zero Hour in LA | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Mar 3: Minister for Higher Education, Peerzada Mohammad Syeed today informed the Legislative Assembly that Government endeavouring to promote all local languages in the State. He said that Kashmiri language would be introduced in 9th and 10th classes in the Valley this year, whereas for 11th and 12th classes, the subject is already being taught. The Minister was replying to a point raised by MY Tarigami, during the Zero Hour. Tarigami vociferously pleaded for introducing Kashmiri subject in all the schools in 9th and 10th classes. Minister for Finance, Abdul Rahim Rather in reply to an issue raised by Abdul Haq said that the demand for establishing a branch of J&K Bank and a Treasury Office at Lalpora in Lolab would be examined, as per norms. Harshdev Singh raised the issue regarding a Privilege Motion brought against him in the Upper House, for moving an amendment for abolishing the Legislative Council. The Member said that he was within his rights to move any Bill and no Privilege Motion can be brought against him. Intervening, Abdul Rahim Rather said that the Member had not committed any breach of privilege, as he was within his rights to move the Bill. Responding to a point raised by Jagdish Sapolia with regard to compensation to the people whose land and property came under the Ranjit Sagar Dam, the Finance Minister Abdul Rahim Rather said that the Punjab Government has back-tracked from the agreement between Punjab and J&K Government. However, the matter has been referred to the Supreme Court by the Union Government for resolving the issue. He said that the matter would be taken up again with the Punjab Government to settle various concerned issues. Zulfikar Ali demanded filling up of various vacant posts on fast-track basis by the recruitment agencies while Bimla Luthra demanded improvement in health services in rural and far-flung areas. Krishan Chander demanded early completion of PHE schemes and new tube-wells to overcome the water scarcity in Chenani Constituency. Hakim Mohammad Yasin demanded regularization of drivers engaged in Health department. Vikar Rasool demanded compensation for snow and fire affected families of Banihal area. Indu Pawar sought streamlining the mid-day meal in schools. Nizam-ud-Din Bhat, Ashwani Kumar and Prof. Gharu Ram Bhagat demanded improvement in power scenario in their respective constituencies. Nazir Ahmad Gurezi demanded compensation for those whose land came under the Kishan Ganga Hydro project in Gurez. Mohammad Shafi demanded proper check on the use of sub-standard pesticides to save crops and environment. Balwant Singh Mankotia demanded release of salaries to the contractual college lecturers. Abdul Majid Wani sought re-engagement of Power Development Corporation daily wagers, while Mohammad Sharief Niaz demanded opening of more Timber Sale Depots in Balesa and Thathri areas. Dr. Mustafa Kamal demanded completion of various un-finished drainage works in his Constituency, being executed by NBCC. Sajjad Kitchloo demanded regularization of 217 daily wagers of his area. Peerzada Mansoor Hussain demanded funds for completion of Sub-District Hospital at Shangus. Syed Bashir Ahmad demanded early completion of a bridge in his Constituency, while Lal Chand demanded relief for fire victims of his area. Yashpal Kundal demanded removal of disparity in wages of PHE daily wager. Mohammad Khalil Band demanded establishment of new Tehsil and Block offices at Shaura in Pulwama district. Aijaz Jan demanded additional RTC bus services for Poonch. R S Sharma, Mushtaq Ahmad, Mohammad Ashraf, Mir Saifullah, Feroz Ahmad Khan, T Namgyal, Abdul Rashi, Mohammad Rafi, Bharat Bhushan and Ashok Kumar also raised the issues of public importance pertaining to their areas.
