| Veteran artists share experiences at Theatre Workshop | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 4: Well known personalities from the field of theatre and performing arts, including Bhupinder Singh Jamwal, Mohan Singh and Ayash Arif, and painter Suman Gupta, shared their experiences here today with the participants of the Theatre Workshop being organised by Himalayan Research and Cultural Foundation (HRCF) in collaboration with National School of Drama and J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages. The 30-day theatre workshop that began on February 2 will culminate on March 6 with the production of the play 'Holi' written by Mahesh Elkunchawar prepared during the workshop at Abhinav Theatre. Accomplished Theatre Director and Film Actor Mushtaq Kak, who is conducting the Workshop emphasised the contemporary relevance of the play 'Holi' and said that the presentation of the play would incorporate many contemporary issues that are affecting the young generation in this country at this point of time. Mushtaq Kak said that various television producers from J&K, Delhi and Mumbai who visited the Workshop for selecting artistes for their forthcoming productions had booked most of the participants of the Workshop by offering them prominent roles in their respective productions. Eminent artist Suman Gupta spoke about art and aesthetics, citing examples of many paintings in order to explain the intricacies of understanding modern art, veteran playwright and Sahitya Akademi Award winning author Mohan Singh spoke about traditional Dogri Theatre. Renowned actor, director of the State Ayash Arif explained the vital differences in acting for stage, television and films. Well known Music Director Bhupinder Singh Jamwal highlighted the essential features of music in theatre. Mushtaq Kak also said that HRCF has done commendable work in the field of popularising art, music and theatre in J&K State and abroad. He highlighted the efforts of HRCF in promoting theatre by citing the examples of performance of 'Andha Yug' at Jammu and 'Pratibimb' at India International Centre, New Delhi in memory of Hans Christian Ostro, a Norwegian Theatre Director, who was killed by militants in Kashmir. A troupe of musicians of the State participated in an International Music Festival "Sounds of Eurasia" held at Ulan Ude, in Eastern Siberia, in Russian Federation under the auspices of HRCF in September 2007. Earlier, HRCF organised an exhibition of paintings by well-known artist from the State Suman Gupta, entitled The Mountain Mysteries, at the Palais des Nations, United Nations Office at Geneva (Switzerland) in August 2002. The exhibition was presented under the patronage of the Mission of Mongolia in Geneva to mark the International Year of Mountains.
