| "Cultural potential still unexplored in J&K" | | | SIDDHARTH Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 3: "There is an abundant potential still unexplored here on the cultural front of Jammu and Kashmir that needs to be brought on the national as well as international panorama," said North Zone Cultural Centre Patiala, Director D S Saroyha. The NZCC Director while talking to this correspondent on phone from Kalagram, Chandigarh had earlier come to Jammu for an interactive meet with the folk artists of the state said that the artists here have the in-depth creativity deeply rooted into their genre that have an essence of three regions' fusion in its performance. "The Organization that caters to seven states of the North Zone have more leaning towards the Jammu and Kashmir for its unity in diversity that projects the art as a special component for the entire nation and the world even," said D S Saroyha. Recalling his own association with the state, Saroya recapitulated the moments he cherished in scenic beauty of Ladkah while capturing the photogenic landscape of the area. "I myself clicked the grandeur of the region and captured it in the camera which I later exhibited in my workshop in Punjab also that gathered great appreciation," he said. On North Zone Cultural Center's endeavor to identify the artists' potential and providing them space for more betterment, Saroya said that the institution is always available for all ventures undertaken by the artists in right perspective and NZCC welcomes the initiatives in this regard. "We have comprehensive allocation of different works and projects for the variegated schemes that reach us and we see through its workability and assign the same to the organizations and the groups approaching us," he said. NZCC caters to seven states of the North that include Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Uttranachal and Chattisgarh. Meanwhile the secretary Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages Zaffar Iqbal Manhas said that since the administrative set move on the six monthly transition to summer and winter capital respectively, but the secretary's office would hold regular weekly meets in Jammu so that no work remains pending or wanting due to the secretariat's move. "I would myself hold the scheduled meeting with the artists and the groups to keep the momentum apace on the cultural front and for the purpose I have directed my sub office also remain active," informed the secretary. It is pertinent to mention here that since taking up by Zaffar Iqbal Manhas, the State Academy has set the things rolling as many cultural and artistic undertaking have become daily routine in the state. |
