| Two top HM ultras surrender before DGP | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Mar 03: Two top Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) militants surrendered along with arms and ammunition before director general of police (DGP) Kuldip Khuda in Doda today. Khuda was on a tour of the mountain-locked Ramban, Kishtwar and Doda districts to review the law and order situation. In Doda, two top HM militants surrendered before him. They were identified as Abdul Lateef Bali alias Abdu Hamza, a self-styled HM deputy divisional commander, and his deputy Sher Mohammad alias Saifullah. The arms and ammunition laid down by them included a universal machine gun, an AK rifle, a grenade launcher, seven RPG rounds, 550 rounds of AK rifle, six magazines, 50 electronic detonators and one M-16 grenade. Laying down arms, the duo said they were fed up with the militancy and, therefore, had decided to shun violence.The DGP said the surrender by the top militants had given a severe setback to HM outfit. He described the surrendered as a big achievement for the police force. The DGP assured them all possible help in leading a peaceful life. |
