| State Govt accords consent for probe through CBI | | Alleged Murder of NC leader & Childhood friend of Union Health Minister | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 4: The alleged murder of Ghulam Mohd Rather, a NC Sarpach and childhood friend of Ghulam Nabi Azad presently Union Health Minister, takes new turn as the home dept of State Govt has requested the Central Bureau of Investigation for holding investigation in the matter. It was disclosed by Additional Advocate General Jagidsh Parihar during the arguments in the case which was listed today before High Court.
Additional Advocate Jagidsh Parihar seeks time to file an affidavit indicating that vide SRO 92 of March 2, 2010, the State Govt has accorded consent to the extension of powers and jurisdiction of members of Delhi Special Police Establishment to the State of Jammu & Kashmir for investigation of offences u/s 302/341 and 34 RPC arising out of FIR No 22/2007 registered at P/S Gandoh District Doda requesting Central Bureau of Investigation for holding investigation into the matter.
Justice JP Singh of J&K High Court Jammu Wing after hearing Adv SS Ahmed appeared for the petitioner Ghulam Rasool Rather a cousin of deceased Ghulam Mohd Rather, AAG With Adv PN Goja appearing for the respondents, directed registry to list the case on March 11, 2010.
In the petition, it has been submitted that the deceased Ghulam Mohd Rather happened to be childhood friend and class fellow of present Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad. The petitioner and the relatives of deceased approached the Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad. In the petition it was further alleged the cause of the crime that pedestrian bridge which was on Nallah connecting Goilbar village has had lost its life, Chief Minister was called upon by the deceased in secretariat and required about the construction of bridge and when deceased informed him that no funds have been allocated for the construction of bridge, the CM was pleased to issue on spot instructions to the concerned to release the money for construction of that bridge. Accordingly an amount Rs 2.80 lacs was got sanctioned. The bridge was to be got constructed through the agency of Panchayat Khaljugasar. It was alleged that Mohd Sharief Niaz former power minister and presently MLA earlier represented Bhaderwah constituency in which the area of Goilbar also falls and all the constructions local works in different Panchayats were in the meanwhile got executed on the instructions of Mohd Sharief Niaz through contractors who pledged their allegiance to him and his party. The deceased had all this political affiliation with National Conference and on this issue it has been alleged deceased was murdered and seeking investigation of the case through CBI or team of Crime Branch headed by an Officer not below the rank of DIG.
