| "Assembly has become hub of anti national elements" | | | Even as both PDP and ruing NC members today exhibited unanimity on the two resolutions moved by the former, both BJP and Panthers Party MLAs strongly rebuffed the arguments of the regional parties, contending the situation by no means was conducive for withdrawal of security forces or revocation of AFSPA. "An impression is being created in the House as if the armed forced have occupied the state forcibly……it needs no mention that they have been called here to deal with terrorism and militancy….for protection of common masses", said Prof Chaman Lal Gupta of BJP. Contesting the views of both NC and PDP, Gupta said even as 61 % people voted during Assembly elections, no one should forget the huge voter turnout has been made possible by the Army. "We all are in this House because of the efforts of the Army", he said adding that good works done by the Army need not be overlooked. While Harsh Dev Singh of Panthers Party speaking against the resolutions contended that situation was not conducive yet in the face of the incidents of violence and increased militancy.
