| PMH School organises environment awareness campaign | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Mar 5: Popular Model High (PMH) School organised National Environment Awareness Campaign on the theme of “Climate Change” in collaboration with Ministry of Environment & Forests with funding from the World Wide Fund for Nature India, J&K State office, (Centre for Environment Education & Training). During the campaign, various workshops, seminars, rallies and competitions were held under the guidance of Principal, Usha Sharma and Chairman of the institution, Dr AK Arora, to make aware students of the institution as well as the general public with regard to their role in protecting the environment. In the workshops, participants were guided on their role to reduce the damage on environment. Volunteers were also taught about techniques for water recycling and their implementation. Light was also thrown on environmental problems like garbage dump and water bodies’ cleanliness in and around us and efforts required to reduce such problems. Participants went door to door to spread this knowledge to the society regarding the need and importance of cleanliness and the various diseases caused by polluted water. They also encouraged the people for tree plantation and its benefits. Various competitions were organized related to the theme of the project. The aim was to encourage the contestants to learn more about the “Climate Change” and share their knowledge with all others. The students of institution also took out rallies to create an environmental awareness in the society. Top three contenders in all the competitions were given awards.
