EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Mar 5: Jammu Sports, Food and Supplies, Jammu and Kashmir Police-B and District Football Association (DFA) Sopore today qualified for the pre-quarterfinals of the ongoing 21st State Football Championships under the banner of J&K Football Association (JKCA) here.

All the four winner teams did not allow their opponents to open the account in the fourth round of the competitions held at twin venues of GGM Science College and Mini Stadium, Parade, here.

Sailing on a super performance from young Rahul, Jammu Sports trounced DFA Budgam by five goals to nil. Rahul struck thrice netting the ball in the 10th, 41st and 57th minute of the match thus making it a one-sided contest. Another young forward, Vivian and Marvin contributed a goal each in the 28th and 32nd minutes respectively.

In another match played at Mini Stadium, Parade, Food and Supplies XI registered a convincing 3-0 victory over Young Star Jammu. Altaf (22nd), Imran (30th) and Ahsan (50th) were the scorers from winners Food and Supplies.

Jammu and Kashmir Police-B registered an impressive 2-0 victory over Young Maharaja Club to pave way for the pre-quarterfinals. Imtiaz scored both the goals striking in the 30th and 61st minute of the match. Imtiaz’s celebrations could not last long after he was shown a red card by the centre referee for repeating his mistakes of foul play. In fact, two yellow cards in the same game automatically became a red thus restricting Imtiaz from playing the next game scheduled for tomorrow.

In another fourth round match, DFA Sopore defeated DFA Ganderbal by a solitary goal. The only goal was scored by Shahid in the very fourth minute of the match.

Earlier, in a third round match played yesterday, DFA Sopore trounced Engineers Club by four goals to two in tie-breaker. In the stipulated time the match ended in a 1-1 draw with Kapil (46th) taking first lead for Engineers and Tanvir (65th) bringing in an equaliser from Sopore. Later, in tie-breaker, Nadeem, Wasim and Tanvir were successful from winners Sopore whereas from Engineers Club only Tushar could convert the penalty kick into goal.
