3/5/2010 11:03:40 PM

EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Mar 5: Launching a scathing attack on central and state governments for their alleged incompetence and inaction to counter the inflating prices of essential commodities, state Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Shamsher Singh Manhas called upon the party activists to make aware the masses about the anti-people policies of UPA regime.
Manhas, after being elected as BJP chief, was addressing first introductory meeting of the newly constituted state unit team along with former state President Ashok Khajuria at party headquarters here today.
State BJP president said that on account of unprecedented price rise the party has recently launched signature campaign condemning the state and central government for its incompetence and inaction to counter it. He advised all his office bearers to work for success of the signature campaign so that public opinion is mobilized and also make aware of the evil effects of the Congress led UPA government at centre and in the state. He said that since the BJP is genuinely concerned with the well being and prosperity of the common masses, hence this campaign and its success would only give a message to the society that it is with them always.
Manhas also urged the members to make preparations for the forthcoming Local Bodies elections.
Addressing the meeting, Ashok Khajuria, said that our state is passing through turmoil and we have to watch the interests of Jammu as well as Ladakh and balance between all three regions is possible only when this newly constituted team pledges to fight against wrong policies of the government. He appealed the new office bearers to work for the party as united efforts can only yield good results. He asserted that BJP has glorious past and present is safe in the hands of newly constituted team.
The meeting also observed 2-minute silence for the peace of the departed souls of BJP veteran leader Om Prakash Paroch and Sunil Sachchar, son of Gopal Sachchar, Incharge-Editor of Punjab Kesri and Hind Samachar for J&K.
