EJAC appeals employees to observe three-day strike

JAMMU, Mar 5: Leaders of J and K Government Employees and Workers Joint Association Com-mittee (JKGEWJAC), All Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh Teacher's Federa-tion (AJKLTF) , under the banner of J and K Government Employees Joint Action Committee appealed to employees to remain united and observe three days token strike from March 11 to 13.
Addrfessing a joint press conference here on Friday, Ram Kumar Sharma and Balwan Singh Jamwal said that sufficient time was given to the government by the employees to settle the already agreed demands which were accepted by the Cabinet sub committee headed by Abdul Rahim Rather, Finance Minister and approved by the Cabinet on February 19, 2009 but the State Government has miserably failed and deliberately adopted the dilly delaying approach towards the agreed demands. They further said EJAC has served the ultimatum to the government to honour its commitment and implement the Cabinet decision upto December 31, 2009 but State Government has turned deaf ear to the implementation of their demands and compelled the employees to adopt the agitation path to come on the streets.
Their main demands include release of arrears of 6th pay commission w:e.f 01.01.2006 in favour of employees and pensioners, release of pending 5% HRA, to issue order for regularization of all temporary, adhoc, consolidate, contractual employees and daily rated workers before and after 1994. Other demands included removal of pay anomalies of various cadres, ewnhancement of retirement age from 58 to 60 years as per commitment, conversion of Cola into DA of PSU employees.
Meanwhile, keeping in view the examination, EJAC has decided to exempt all types of examination duty from the preview of the strike in larger interest of the students and public in general, they informed.
Other who were present in press conference include Abdul Rashid, Babu Ram Padyar, Madan Sangral, Sudershan Sharma, Sanjay Abrol, Parlahad Singh, Ashok Kumar Gandhi, Shamsher Singh, S.Joginder Singh, Naseem Quareshi, Munish Sharma, S. Rajinder Singh, Pawan Kumar, Arjun Singh, Daljeet Singh, Yaseem Ahmed,. Naranjan Sharma and Qyoom Ahmed.
