| Ex-rly employees get 3-yr RI for bribery | | | AGENCIES NEW DELHI, Mar 5: Two former employees of Northern Railway have been sentenced to three years of rigorous imprisonment each in a bribery case by a special CBI court. The special CBI judge of Patiala also slapped a fine of Rs 35,000 each on the two. According to CBI, a case was registered against S K Chug, Assistant Executive Engineer and M S Hasnain, Inspector of Works, Northern Railway, Jalandhar for demanding a bribe of Rs 50,000 from a person for passing bill of payment. The complainant was a partner in a Ludhiana-based private company which was awarded a work in connection with doubling of track in Jalandhar Cantonment-Pathankot-Jammu Tavi section. The acceptance cost of the work was Rs 4.69 crore. The work was completed on August 15, 2006 under the supervision of the two officials. "The complainant has received payment of Rs 3 cr.
