NCC wins opening tie in Rajiv Memorial T20 Cricket

Jammu, Mar 6: National Cricket Club (NCC) won the inaugural match of the Ist Rajiv Gandhi Memorial Twenty20 Cricket Tournament outplaying Surinder Cricket Club (SCC) by a big margin of 89 runs at MA Stadium, here today.
Earlier, batting first, NCC set a big target of 201 runs for the loss of five wickets, which, in reply, SCC could not chase and bowled out for 111 runs in 19.3 overs.
Ved Parkash was top scorer from NCC with 35-ball 55 runs studded with eight boundaries while Sagar Gupta and Manish Dogra contributed 36 and 35 runs respectively. Amit also played well adding a brilliant 19-ball 44 runs studded with two sixes and four hits to the fence. From SCC, Vinod clinched three wickets for 41 runs in four overs while Sanjay Koul took one.
Batting second, SCC lost all their wickets for 111 runs in 19.3 overs. Amit made highest 60 (off 43 balls, 2x6, 7x) while Provind and Vikas contributed 15 and 17 runs respectively.
No other batsman could touch the double figure mark. From NCC, Pathan was most successful bowler with for wickets for eight runs in two overs he bowled. Deepak Manhas and Amit took three and two wickets respectively.
For his match winning innings, Amit Balloria was adjudged man of the match. Today's match was officiated by Rajesh Dhar and Rajiv while Gautam Verma was scorer. Tournament is being organized by Young Star Cricket Club.
In all, 18 teams are taking part in this knock-out tournament. The organized has decided to award a cash prize of Rs 21,000 to the winners while runners-up to get Rs 11,000.
