| We are ready to face dismissal, ESMA: PHE Union | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 6: Unfazed by the State Government’s warning of initiating stern action against them if they resort to agitation, the employees of Public Health Engineering (PHE) department today shot back at the administration, saying its ‘suppressive’ tactics would not serve any purpose. The employees have decided to go ahead with their proposed two-day-long strike call from March 8 and made it clear that such ‘repressive’ and ‘suppressive’ statements cannot deter employees from getting their legitimate right. “We are ready to face action in form of suspension, dismissal and ESMA,” they asserted. A large number of PHE employees today assembled in front of the office of Chief Engineer, PHE Jammu and shouted slogans against the “autocratic” PHE minister who is, they alleged, harassing and blackmailing them and their leadership. They said that the PHE Employees United Front has given call for 48 hours ‘Kam Choro Hartal’ from March 8 to force the government to implement the all agreed demands. While addressing the PHE employees, the leaders of the front said that the issues of the employees were resolved on July 14, 2009 by the Minister concerned and was assured to implement within one month time period but nothing has been done in this connection even after seven months. The leaders further alleged that instead of redressal of grievances of the employees the PHE Minister issuing warning and threats to them and its leadership to pressurize them instead of that the moral of employees is very high and they don’t afraid of such threats. They further expressed that they are not worried from the threats of the Minister and such threats can’t derailed them from the path of the struggle. “We are ready to face the suspensions, dismissals and ESMA and any other consequences as stated by the autocratic ruler,” they said. The leaders of the front alleged that Minister concerned gives only dictations but not want to listen the employees’ problems and in such circumstances how the issues of the employees can be negotiated. They further added that the PHE Minister has started “false” campaign to defame the PHE leadership among the general masses to hide his own weakness and malpractices. Clarifying their stand on the employees’ demands, they said that unless and until the government does not give them in black and white, they would not withdraw the strike. “Our employees can be careless and negligent but they are not thief as proclaimed by the minister concerned,” they said. Prominent leaders those who have addressed the gathering were Bakshi Singh, Shiv Kumar Sharma, Swaran Singh, Subash Chander Verma, Vinod Sharma, Vijay Luthra, Omkar Sharma, S. Kulwant Singh, Kartar Chand, Surinder Kumar and Muneer Ahmed.
