| J&K Police-A enters semi-finals of football | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 6: Jammu and Kashmir Police today became the first team to enter the semifinals of ongoing 21st State Football Championship, organised by J&K Football Association at different venues, here. Playing directly in the quarterfinals, J&K Police overpowered District Football Association (DFA) Sopore beating latter by a solitary goal. The only goal was scored by Vinay Kumar in the 33rd minute of the 70-minute game. Meanwhile, three other teams of Jammu Sports, Young Hero and Food and Supplies XI today qualified for the quarterfinals stages. In the first match, Food and Supplies trounced Churchill Brothers by three goals to one. Though Churchill Brothers took the first lead yet they failed to maintain the tempo and conceded three goals in the second half of the match. Rinku scored in the 21st minute from Churchill Brothers while Yasin (43rd and 56th) and Irfan (70th) were the scorers from winners Food and Supplies. In another pre-quarterfinal match, Young Hero registered a 4-3 win over J&K Police-B beating latter in tie-breaker. Earlier, in the stipulated time the match ended in a goalless draw. Later, in tie breaker Chandan, Deepak, Happy and Deepak (jr) successfully converted the penalty kicks for the winners Young Hero while Rakesh, Manzoor and Sohan scored from JKP-B. Jammu Sports also made it to the quarterfinals stages outplaying DFA Baramulla 4-3. Divian (7th), Moffy (19th and 37th) and Rohit (57th) scored a goal each from Jammu Sports while Firdos and Ashiq were scorers from DFA Baramulla. |
