| Prof Rao visits JU's Department of Statistics | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU Mar 6: Prof CR Rao, Professor Emeritus of Statistics, Pennsylvania State University, USA, visited the Department of Statistics, Jammu University (JU) here today.
On the occasion, Prof Rao had an interactive session with faculty members, scholars and students of the department.
He shared his research experience and motivated all the students to excel in their fields of research.
During the interactive session students put lot of queries before Prof Rao and they get inspired through his wisdom and experience.
Prof Rao gave some suggestion for further advancement of the statistics subject particularly in J&K and also discussed some growing areas in Statistics like cross entropy methods, machine learning, Data Mining.
Prof Rao highlighted the usefulness and contribution of Statistics for development of Science and Technology. He advocated the importance of Statistics for acquiring new knowledge.
The interactive session was attended by Head Department of Statistics Prof J P Singh Joorel, Dr Rahul Gupta, Dr Pawan Kumar, Dr Parmil Kumar, Vikas Sharma, Rakesh Chib besides students of Department of Statistics.
