| Insurance employees demand wage revision | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 6: Northern Zone Insurance Employees Association, Srinagar Division today staged a day-long Dharna outside LIC Office of DO Cell. The protest was staged on the call of All India Insurance Employees Association to press the administration early settlement of demand of wage revision. Speaking on the occasion, Pawan Gupta, divisional secretary Jammu Division, said that wage revision of employees have been due since August 1, 2007 and nearly two and a half years have lapsed yet the management is not serious about settlement for of wage revision. "In response to employees' demand of 40 per cent wage hike, management first offered 12 per cent, then 15 per cent and now 17.5 per cent offer has been made which is not acceptable to the employees. The Management also wants to impose certain conditions and snatch existing benefits of employees," he alleged. The leader warned that the employees would not tolerate such attitude of the management and give a befitting reply. "Insurance employees' demand of 40 per cent wage rise is quite logical and genuine keeping in view performance of the industry and also capacity to pay of LIC of India. It is a big injustice that for the last two and a half years LIC management and Government of India is playing with the sentiments of employees by delaying tactics," he alleged. The dharna was also addressed by Joint Secretary of Division Romesh Chand, vice president, Rajesh Gupta, treasurer S.K. Bhat, Raj Kumar, Dinesh Sharma, Neelam Sharma, convener of Women Sub- Committee, Naveen Kohli, Kishore and Rekha. Similar dharna was held outside provincial Office Srinagar under the leadership of President A M Tantray and Joint Secretary H U Koul.
