| 10 days judicial remand for BSF CO | | | ET REPORT JAMMU, Mar 6: The police has completed investigation in Zahid Farooq case and today sought judicial remand for the accused BSF commandant and constable in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM). Allowing the police petition, the CJM remanded both the accused to judicial custody till March 16. According to reports, the police produced Commandant Birdi in the court of CJM this afternoon amid tight security. After being apprised of the progress of investigation, the CJM remanded him to judicial custody till March 16. However, the CJM directed the police to ensure proper medical examination of commandant Birdi as he complained of heart ailment. Birdi's counsel, Advocate Moulvi Aijaz was also present in the court. After five minutes, the police produced the main accused Lakhwinder Singh in the same court. He too was remanded to judicial custody till March 16. The police, reports said, are busy framing the charge sheet. The police have reportedly consulted legal experts in this regard. The charge sheet may be filed shortly, reports suggested. Meanwhile, Zahid's father accused the special investigating team (SIT) of shielding the culprits. "Twenty-six days have passed since the accused constable, Lakhwinder Singh was arrested. No charge sheet has been produced in the court till date", he said.
