| Vijay Club, Forest XI sail into semifinals of State Football | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Mar 7: Vijay Club and Forest XI won their respective matches played today to enter the semi-finals of the ongoing 21st State Football Championships under the banner of J&K Football Association at GGM Science College grounds, here. In the first quarterfinal, Forest XI trounced Young Hero Club by a solitary goal. The only goal of the match was scored by Wasim in the 33rd minute of the first half. The match was officiated by Farooq Khan, Shafi, Moon Madan and Ronny. The second match between Vijay Club and Jammu Sports turned out to be an interesting game with both sides being local clubs enjoyed a good crowd support. However, Vijay Club emerged the winner beating Jammu Sports by two goals to nil. Rakesh Kumar opened the account for Vijay Club netting the ball in the 29th minute. It was followed by a dilly dallying battle for more than 35 minutes. Jammu Sports who were making all out efforts for an equalizer, conceded yet another goal in the 82nd minute. The second goal came through Manoj Kumar. The match was officiated by Nissar, Muzaffar, Hilal, Farooq Shahin. Now, in the fourth and last quarterfinal, to be played tomorrow at 3 pm at Science College ground, defending champions, J&K Bank shall take on Food and Supplies. It is pertinent to mention here that J&K Police-A has already qualified for the last four stages of the tournament.
